Just paraphase this ..
Yet women also gained power in comparison with their previous status, owning a higher proportion of real estate, for example. In contrast, Buel and Buel’s biography provides ample raw material for questioning the myth, fostered by some historians

Buel and Buel’s biography provides evidence but doesnt take a call on the myth or guide how to analyse the evidence...

this was the hardest question I came across till passage 15 in OG-12. Did not have a clue. :oops:

C it is.
The last line mentions that some historians believed that there was a colonial golden age in the eighteenth century. But the words "myth" and "fostered" tell us that the truth is different. The "golden age" that some historians believed existed did not actually exist. That can be rewritten as option C.
