The MBA Programme provides innumerable opportunities for you to learn and practise the art of leadership. Some of these activities are a formal part of the programme but most are optional. These leadership activities combine to form our Global Leadership Development Programme (GLDP). The GLDP consists of the Early Leadership Module, Skills Core Course, Business Communication Module, and the Further Skills Development Portfolio.

Early Leadership Module (begins at Orientation)

• Understanding General Management (UGM) highlights the challenges and responsibilities you will face as a future global leader. You will study managing through processes, managerial values and what it means to be a leader in the modern business environment.
• Global Leadership Assessment for Managers (GLAM) helps you develop key interpersonal and teamwork skills to help you lead others in a culturally sensitive way. You also create a personalised MBA action plan based on an assessment of your personal development needs.

Applying what you're studying to real-life contexts is a key aspect of learning on the London Business School MBA. This is highlighted by the project work conducted on the Programme. There are two major curriculum-based projects, both of which are compulsory:

Organisational Audit
During the Managing Organisational Behaviour core course each MBA study group conducts an Organisational Audit on a company of their choice. The audit is tailored to the individual needs of the company. Study groups work with their chosen organisation to agree on the focus and scope of the investigation. Team members gather information through interviews, focus groups or surveys. They share emerging findings with the organisation and present a written report at the end of the project. The audit enables students to apply their knowledge and expertise, and demonstrates the value of their MBA training. Many students describe this as the most valuable learning experience of the Managing Organisational Behaviour course.

The Second Year Project
The Second Year Project is the culmination of your MBA. It's a team-based consultancy exercise that makes use of everything you've learned in class. In a team of two or three you'll analyse and evaluate a tangible business problem for your project sponsor. Past sponsors include global companies, start-ups, charities and NGOs. The project is a superb chance to build networks - some students receive permanent job offers through their project. It's also a chance to earn - you'll negotiate the terms and timetable with the client - or to work pro-bono for a worthy cause.

In 2008 and 2009 the average paid Second Year Project daily rate ranged from £100 to £300 per day, for between 25 and 30 days work.

Summer Consulting Programme
Every year, six to eight of our top MBA students join forces to become the London Business School Consulting Team. With full access to School resources, they provide high-end consultancy services to a range of clients throughout the summer internship period.

Entrepreneurship Summer School
The Entrepreneurship Summer School is one of our popular electives and is ideal if you are interested in:

• pursuing a business idea of your own
• starting a career as an entrepreneur
• learning to develop and shape opportunities

You'll explore a business opportunity in a practical format and test the feasibility of your idea through active research in your proposed markets. You can then study other electives in entrepreneurship and work on a business plan as you finish your second year on the MBA programme.

Every London Business School MBA graduate must achieve competency in one language other than English by graduation.

If you do not have competency in a language other than English upon entry, you'll need to reach Level 2 in a second language by graduation (Level 1 is Basic, Level 5 is fluent).

To get to this level you can:

• study one of the languages offered at London Business School
• study independently
• combine a School course and independent study.

If you're already competent in another language when you start the MBA, you can still study a language as part of your programme. Many of our students choose to study a third, fourth or fifth language.
