Hi Fuji,
Sorry to hear about your disappointing results so far. Are you still waitlisted at Stern and Darden? If so, I would not give up hope. There is still a lot of movement going on at top schools as people make decisions and there is a trickle down of good news for those on the waitlist. You need to first focus on managing the waitlist effectively.
If you do not end up getting in, Stern and Darden will both be friendly towards your reapplication. BUT it is essential that you demonstrate some sort of change and progress since your last application. There are tons of ways that you can show that progress - in work, community efforts, personal goals. You want to demonstrate that you have grown and evolved. This may include further refining your career goals and showing that you have taken small steps to get closer to reaching them. It may include stepping up from sporadic volunteer work to serving on a board or speaheading a specific volunteer project. Or perhaps you have not had any community involvements and now you do.
Think about who you were as an applicant and then spend some time thinking about v 2.0 of you. I am optimistic that you will be successful given your results last year. The GMAT increase is impressive (no need to take it again, by the way) and it seems like you have some terrific work experience to speak to. You should add new schools to the mix, so it is not all reapplications. Other schools to look at: Michigan, Fuqua, McCombs, Cornell.
Good luck to you! I would love to hear where you end up.
Stacy
