I don't think it's absolutely "necessary", and I would only do it if it's simply to achieve a higher GMAT score, not for the sole purpose of balancing out the quant score. I think the choice is up to you now. Given your college courses and your quantative professional experience, your Q44 won't be a killer, that's for sure.

@JoelCairo Thanks for the note, there are some useful posts there. Congrats on your score by the way, a 51 in verbal is pretty darn impressive :) I reckon it makes sense to highlight any prior experience in dealing with numbers (like bakfed suggested) and then volunteer for any additional courses if necessary. Like you I have a slightly different background, so I'm hoping I want be compared to all the 'usual suspects' when I apply.
