Word on the street is Fuqua AdCom is waiting out this debt ceiling debacle before opening up more slots.

One side only wants to cut student body in order to maintain the level of quality and selectivity. The other side wants to raise a little tuition to bring in higher quality professors, attract high-quality students with scholarship, and improve career services. Currently, the side that wants to only cut student body refuse to make any compromises. The pressure is added by the August 1 Orientation deadline. If Fuqua does not have a finalized class size, we would be force to not have a class of 2013. Fuqua AdCom is looking to the leaders of America for inspirations.

Meanwhile, waitlisters are exposed to emotional volatility.

Sorry, I was trying to make a joke regarding waitlist situation and the debt ceiling crisis that's happening in the US. Please don't take the statements seriously.

You gave us hope there for a second.

For all of those who have been waiting out on Duke as your top choice, Kudos. If you decide to apply next year get your applications in early to greatly increase your chances of acceptance:

To all the summer WLers who will be reapplying for the Class of 2014: I actually started writing my essays for this coming application cycle early last week since it didn't seem like any of us would be getting the acceptance call anymore. It has been a big help as I do not anticipate that getting the ding notice will hurt at all because I have begun the process of moving on. With that said, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in creating some sort of a WL-reapplicant support group? As we all had to endure the long wait these past few months, it might be a good idea to help each other so that we could ensure that we are more successful this year. Please send me a PM if you are up for this.

To all the summer WLers who have decided to go to another school this year: It was a pleasure waiting with you, and I wish you all the best! I hope I don't end up regretting declining a very good offer this year. :)

Unfortunately it seems to be over. Orientation started today. Good luck to all those who are reapplying. Duke has an amazing program and although I won't be going to school there, I will always have great respect for the Fuqua community.

This forum has provided a tremendous amount of support through the waiting months. I thank everyone for that. Good luck to all whether you're starting your MBA this year or reapplying for next year. Finally, I hope Fuqua sends an email to those still on the waitlist to put a closure on this ordeal.

So long everyone.

Thanks everyone! I am saddened and surprised that none of us on the thread were admitted in July. Truly surprised.

I'll be off to UW Foster. Good luck to everyone who is reapplying or headed elsewhere!! It was a special experience waiting it out with you guys.

Yeah, just got the rejection email myself. Ooh well - I'm headed to BU in a couple weeks. Probably better off with a scholarship than none anyways. Good luck everybody!

I got the ding email this afternoon as well. I was expecting just an automated mail asking to check updated status online. Instead, it was a personal message. Better than I thought, I guess. Anyway, glad it's over so I can focus on next year's apps.

I got the generic email today as well. I wonder how much truth there is to the "very competent [applicant] in a very selective year" statement.

Are you re-applying this coming cycle? By the way, if you don't mind me asking, were you a summer WLer last year as well?

Two of my closest friends are starting there this year. Just sharing...

It looks like only four of us from the list are planning on re-applying. Are you doing EA this year?

I agree on the poorly managed part. I don't think I will be re-applying to Fuqua this year, this whole process left a pretty bad taste.

bschoolbound2011: Sorry about your waitlist experience. The best analogy of the admission team is to the HR office. I've worked with great companies with horrible HR, and poorly run companies with great HR. Although it would make sense for great company to put some effort into HR, sometimes there's a disconnect. I wasn't too impressed by Fuqua's admission team's follow up after my acceptance either. Luckily, the experience at the school is completely different, the administration is in general very engaged.

Locking this thread, please post in the current year's application thread.
