Hey fellow gmatclubbers!

I decided to retake the GMAT (I scored 690 last December) and try my luck with an US-based MBA program once more. I am hoping for a 720+ score, so I am considering applying to top schools and perhaps one or two "safe bets". I would love to study in a major city while getting both quality education and quality social life (I am not exactly the "nerdy" type :twisted: ). My top picks for this year would be NYU, Columbia (long shots, I know - but they are both in NYC), followed by Wharton, Kellogg and probably Cornell and Carnegie-Mellon. Safe bet so far - Fordham (although it probably sucks - and it is hard to find any reliable info about how the school is).

My question is: which schools in major cities would you pick and why? I live in the Czech republic so the information about social life at schools is pretty limited. Thanks for any feedback!

I am looking at NY because I want to go into finance. Since New York is the finance capital, it is the best place for mê to be.

Good luck. NYC is the capital for pretty much everything, although I bet there are other schools - Booth for example - which are awesome for finance.

Definitely Columbia! NYC of course but we have a ton of events and social gatherings every week around campus and throughout the city. You won't have a dull social life. In fact, it may be hard to keep up! :)

While I think it’s great you’re aiming for colleges like Columbia and NYU, I personally think that more realistically speaking it would be sensible to take a look at some other well-reputed colleges that offer MBA programs. After all, a good education is what you make of it. I think I’d like to study in California. It is home to some of the best colleges in the world. Look into MBA programs offered at California College San Diego. I read a few reviews of California College San Diego that talk about how their programs can be completed in as little as one year depending on the program you choose. Not a bad deal, if you ask me, considering how everyone’s always in a hurry to complete their education and start working. Hope you find a college that interests you.
