Re: Rotterdam School Of Management - Calling all applicatns [#permalink]
Agreed its good to think positive, skepticism is not always useful, they may have a good reason to extend, such as relaxed visa rules for non-EU students etc. Additionally, they do have rolling admissions process, which allows them to keep the slate clean and accommodate more applicants until the deadline. Regardless, I think that RSM not a bad choice, if you're post-MBA plans don't involve Finance or Strategy(specifically, I-banking, PE, Ivest Mgt, VC or Mgt consulting)

Tuck R1, Darden R1, INSEAD R1, IESE R2

Safety School(s) : Emory (R2). Previously, RSM was my safety, but now I am leaning towards Judge (Cambridge). Good luck with your applications.

:) Thanks a lot.
Well post MBA I plan on getting into business development where I guess I would need to use a bit of strategy too..
That apart, what your profile like? How long/and in what field have you been working as an Entrepreneur?
I quit work last month after 4 years as a business analyst and did my GMAT.. got a 660[Q-50, V-29, awa-5.0]. As of now, I'm looking at doing an MBA asap & RSM happened to have their course starting in January which is what got me interested in the first place. Do you know of any other colleges starting their course in Jan/Spring that I should possibly be looking at?

We have something in common, I quit my Mgt Consulting job at a Big 4 firm back in 2009. I have been working part-time for a Social VC (company that fund NGO's) since my freshmen year . Now, I am a partner at a firm that provides HC to the elderly. I was gonna recommend IMD to ya, but the deadline has passed. So next in line would be, IVEY (OWO) which is arguably the best program in Canada, has a spring start date and the R3 deadline in somewhere in Nov.

Cool.. :)
I don't work per say but yea I still help out over the weekends on a honorary basis at an NGO that I have been associated with for quiet some time now.
I was in Toronto for a while.... I visited Schulich while I was there.... The students there told me that it's always better to join a Canadian college in Fall as most the profs get out and are on holidays when its summer ....
Ivey was in a different city all together[ London .... i know Canada is pretty lame when it comes to naming places :P] That's one of the reasons why I was double guessing applying to Ivey.

That reminds me ... here's a reason why I was worried about applying to colleges in the UK...

I've not really been following the news but I hope it's been resolved.

Hi,
I applied to RSM for MScBA General Management Programme and got their rejection letter.

Now, the reason they have given for my rejection is that they don't understand the GPA criteria (out of 10). From Indians, what they want is whether the degree is 'first class' and not the GPA. And if I am able to provide the same they might consider me for the admission.

But, since our college doesn't provide for the same in 'first class' or 'second class' terms but only in GPA format, I am in a spot of bother.

Please help.

That sure is a weird request from RSM!
Have you checked your degree certificate? take a look at it again.....
It may be mentioned on it...
In case it isn't then try and get in touch with your college examination department and explain the situation to them.

If none of this works, to me it looks more like an excuse to not take u on, but it might just be me...
as it sure isn't that tough a quant problem to figure out the exact percentage or "class" a GPA out of 10 would fall under...
A high number of indian applicants may contribute to this as well..

My advise, just move on... but yea do send them a mail expressing your displeasure :)
Best of luck man.
