What's wrong with c?


In C, lack of helping verb "are" will make 2 interpretation.

1. but simply random by-products of... will elaborate for "due to ... survival"
2. but simply random by-products of... will elaborate for (contradict) the product of natural selection.

In choice D, it has just only one interpretation as #2
