will go for B too.

reference to "firms" later in the sentence requires "firm--as a subject" in the opening sentence. Thus ans should be B or E, but in E the subject is survival. ... that's the reason I vote for B..

any inputs? anybody? :?:

I'd choose C,
just sounds better than A or B. imo since <require> is in passive, it's better to use FOR as opposed to TO.

B

In the later part, it says, such firms...So subject should be plural. Thats why A, C & D are out.

idiom is "required of X to do Y. So E is out.
