Part Time B-School - NYU or Fordham [#permalink]  01 Dec 2005, 11:15
This forum is always a great way to get advice quickly. I just found out in the past 2 days that I got into NYU and Fordham for part-time b-school. While it's a no-brainer that NYU is the better school (and #1 in the US for part-time), I wanted to get everyone's thought on the financial and work aspects. NYU is about $1310/credit and Fordham is$825/credit. It's about $25k more for NYU. Pretty decent chunk of change. I should find out next week if my company is willing to pitch in (it's a small company). If they don't pay at all, I'm wondering if Fordham is a better choice (NYU seems to charge as much as they like and they know most companies for their employees to go there). Fordham has risen in part-time rankings and still has an impressive list of professors (and you can switch to full-time at any point) and will probably be more manageable from a work/life perspective (or so I think). Right now, my job is busy enough, but I wouldn't classify it as excessively demanding but may become so in a year or two at which point classes would also become more difficult. Thoughts greatly appreciated. Manager Joined: 16 Nov 2005 Posts: 74 Location: Newark, DE Followers: 1 Kudos [?]: 1 [0], given: 0 [#permalink] 01 Dec 2005, 16:03 I would go to NYU. Any difference in cost could be offset by the more career opportunities that a NYU MBA could bring. My vote is to go for NYU, but you should look at the places you want to work after graduation. If Fordham grads aren't snagging those positions, then it's a no-brainer that you should go to NYU. Even if Fordham grads are getting those first post-MBA positions in similar numbers to NYU grads, which I doubt, it would be a close call in my mind.

Good luck!
