Part-Time MBA at Wisconsin, Kellog or Chicago - Evaluation [#permalink] New post 01 Oct 2009, 17:15
I am applying to the part-time programs at Wisconsin, Kellogg or Chicago. Please let me know if I have a chance. Your opinion is appreciated.

Age: 32
Indian male in US - permanent resident
B.S. GPA – 3.6 from a mediocre school in India - Graduated top of the class.
M.S. GPA – 3.75 from a mediocre school in U.S. - top 70
GMAT – 650 (70%le V and 79%le Q)

Work Exp – 7 years in civil engineering.
I have done a lot of consulting to public agencies, municipalities and DOT s on several infrastructure projects.
I have also consulted in the private sector for real estate developers in the area of permitting. Provided expert testimonials in public hearings and have represented my clients in front of citizens (friendly and hostile) and elected officials.

300 % bonus increase in 3 years and 50 % salary increase in 3 years during the boom time between 2004 and 2007

Extra Curricular – Habitat for humanity (active in the last 4 years), formed a theater group at Grad school, raised sponsorship funds at UG School in India and other minor leadership history at work.

Target Career – Would like to remain in consulting. However, would like to expand my horizon into management and strategy.

Problem – Took GMAT 3 times: 590 first time (just wanted to give it a shot), 650 second time (prepared more and improved my score), 620 third time (was trying to prove that I am good in quant and scored 95%le in Q but lost it in V)

I am more keen on getting into Wisconsin. Please provide your opinion. By the way, I bought your book and working through it. I like it so far.

Thanks

RB

bramasu,

Sorry for the late reply--first-round deadlines. I think you have a very good chance at Wisconsin's part-time program. Both Chicago and Kellogg will be reach schools, but you not impossible ones. You will need to execute real in your essays (project personality, emphasize distinctiveness), get really strong reco letters, and do a better job than others in showing your knowledge of their programs.

Good luck,
