Hi Paul, I really like your book "Great Application for Business School". It has become my bible for essay writing. I trust that you can give me the best advice on what are my chances at the schools and how to improve that chance.
> Schools I want to apply: HBS, Wharton, Stanford, Chicago, Columbia, Yale, Oxford and Cambridge
> Career goal: Open a consulting firm to prevent fraud and corruption in China
> Age at matriculation: 27 > Certification: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner. > Undergrad: Wuhan University (China top 10) Major: Finance GPA 3.4 Winner of a China Youth Medal and several competitions at the university > Grad: Bentley University Master of Science in Accountancy GPA 3.5 Winner of Graduate Assistantship and another scholarship
>GMAT: 760 TOEFL 114
>Work Exp: - Interned at a leading US real estate investment firm as internal auditor - International Accounting firm as auditor 9 months - Local Accounting firm near Boston as fraud examiner for 1.5 years; Did five fraud investigations including, two are reported in Boston Globe
>Leadership and Community Experience President of 2002 Finance class, president of Classical Movie Club on campus Captain of American Cancer Society Fund raising relay. Board member of Academic Integrity Board. Volunteer, Boston Children's Choir

Alex,
Glad my book helped you. Your industry and post-MBA goals are relatively distinctive and will help you stand out, as will you GMAT score. Your extracurriculars don't seem quite as strong as your professional profile, however, so HBS and Stanford seem out of reach to me. You may have a chance at Wharton, Chicago, and Columbia, if you emphasize your leadership at and outside of work effectively. You should be even more competitive at Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge.
