I found this question bit tricky...
Please chip in with ur answer choices guys (Explain the reasoning behind your answer choice)

A: No. Just because he was arrested in this year doesn't mean he started peddling in this year.
B: No. Stimulus mentions only one arrest. Second is just a statement that he makes.
C: Correct. It is mentioned that he peddled for 20 years. Farthest he could go is the year '59.
D: No. The stimulus does not mention this.
E: No. Nothing comapring the two events is mentioned in the stimulus.

a. not mentioned directly in the argument. POE
b. not mentioned directly in the argument. POE
c. 1739 +/- 20 = 1719/1759. Hence possible. Hold it.
d. not mentioned directly in the argument. POE
e. comparison between two things - always a doubtful case. POE.

Hence C

Re: Peddler [#permalink]
I get some problems on that one!

I went for A with doubts with C

First I did not know the meaning of " to peddle" it does not make it easier.

Secondly, C my doubt is how do we know the statement was nor made eg; 10 years after the arrestation?

Please help!

Re: Peddler [#permalink]
As stated, C is true from a Mathematical standpoint.

We know he was arrested for Peddling in 1739.

We also know that he was peddling on and off for 20 years.

Therefore the latest he could have been peddling is 1759 (If he got arrested the first year he started) and that is less than 1765

Re: Peddler [#permalink]
C states very clearly that he peddled for 20 yrs . 20 yrs from 1739 can be max. 1759 . so the document was written before 1765.
'has been peddling' makes this very clear, meaning he state the second statement while he was still peddling.
