Percent Increase/decrease help!!! [#permalink] New post 04 May 2011, 22:37
Hi Guys,

I came across the below problem in one of the online practice test. It seems simple but i got stuck ..

My diet requires me to lose 528 grams over 1 year. After 3 months, I’ve lost 125. How many grams am I overweight by?

The answer choices are :
-5 , -1, 4 , 7 and 11

Is there a mistake in the answer choices?

I used the formula = original - lost/original = 528 -125/528..is there a different approach

Any suggestions pls..

Regards,
Anu

528/12 = 44/ month is the weight to be lost.

44*3 = 132 is th total weight to be lost.

132-125 = 7 is the weight extra. Hence D.
