I wish to apply for accounting PhD programs in the fall and I wanted to get some feedback on my GMAT situation.
My first try on the GMAT I scored a 710 (44Q 42V) and a 6.0 on AWA. I was a little concerned about my math score so I retook the GMAT but sadly ended up with a 660, but got my math up to 47Q. For some reason I did poorly on verbal, relative to my previous attempt.
Should I retake the GMAT a third time, or would my two scores provide sufficient evidence of predictable success in a PhD program for accounting?
Let me know if you want any other additional information to help me decide if I need to retake the test.
Thanks in advance.
If you've got a short list of top picks, I'd suggest calling them. Some are very candid about their decision process, at least off the record. My gut is many will weigh the discrepancy between the two scores with the rest of your application in trying to predict your chance of succes in the program compared to the other applicants. Then, if you're selected, I think most will report out your top score (as that appears through my limited readings to be an accepted practice AND it puts the school's program 'in the best light'.)
