PHD finance, mba from TOP 20, gmat to be done soon 12/15 [#permalink]
14 Nov 2005, 14:02
I am 35 and got MBA from Indiana U and a few years of work experience in IT dept in major banks and some software developing comapny in asia. If I managed 700 plus on gmat, whst kind of schools do you think I have a chance? I am looking for finance PHD. I am from asia and I will return there taking a faculty position. Not that I am not interested in research and I don't consider myself incomptent, but that I am sure my intellct won't work out some merton model.
My preferred location including NY, CA, and Boston
Maybe give me a list of schools will be prefect.
Thank you!

OK, I am CFA level 3 candidate and by the time I apply, I will prob be FRM cert holder, exam is this week. Do they help?

In the Boston metro-
Boston College http://www.bc.edu/schools/csom/phdf/
Elsewhere in Massachusetts-
UMass Amherst http://www.isenberg.umass.edu/finopmgt/
New York
SUNY Buffalo

CUNY Baruch

Take a look at Rutgers in NJ

California
As you already know, there are surprisingly few PhD business programs in California outside the top few clusters (e.g. Stanford, UCLA, UCB, USC). For those who are curious, the CSU schools are restricted from offering their own PhD programs
Take a look at UC Irvine
