Phone interview experiences [#permalink] New post 01 Feb 2008, 14:48
I just heard back from the Chicago office. They have no active interviewers in Sydney (or anywhere else close). So, my options are :
- Phone interview with ad-com
- Alumni interview at Kuala Lumpur (6 hours and $750 away)
- Campus interview in the US (20 hours and $2000 away unrealistic at the moment).

While phone interview seems like the easy way out, I feel that it might put me at a disadvantage when it comes to admissions. What has other's experience been with the phone interview ? I feel that I might get pinged for not showing enough enthusiasm. I would like to know of people with a successful phone interview experience (especially with chicago).

I had a phone interview with Michigan and since I got admitted I think I did ok. Right after the interview I felt like I bombed it. I am used to phone interviews and also communicating efficiently on the phone as I do that at work quite a bit. I did make some notes for some standard questions on a sheet of paper that I used as a reference and it did help me when i was stuck for talking points.

Good luck and I personally dont think they are going to hold it against it you if you take the interview on the phone.
