Hi mbastar123,

Regarding which round to apply to, we strongly recommend not applying to the final round. Applying in the 2nd round would be fine.

For your application, your GMAT score is a fair amount lower than the averages of the programs you are looking at. Have you considered taking the test again? MBA programs will focus on your highest score.

If you decide to take the test again, here are some tips:

thanks very much for your reply

i have already taken it two times :( , i know i can try another time but am afraid that

1) I will be 32 by the time i get in, i mean if i dont apply this year , next year when i apply with new score i wil be 32
2) I have already gmat twice :(, i am sure if i take it again i will score high, but dont you think three attempts of gmat would weaken my profile.

Pls give your inputs for

1) how do u see my profile for canadian mbas e.g. ivey, schullich, rotman , queens , and Asian programs like NUS and nanyang
2) do u think my non engineering background, with 8 yrs of leadership experience and background in insurance ( which is not very common in b-schools ) make my candidature stand high a bit in presence of strong gmat scores.

my academics are also pretty strong

thanks

Hi mbastar123,

Applicants are still accepted in the 3rd round, however you should know that, as a candidate, the chances of acceptance will be lower than if you had applied in the first or second round.

For your GMAT, what is most important is your highest score. You should not be concerned about the number of times that you take the test.

For Canadian and Asian MBA programs, understand that your experience and opportunities post-graduation will be very different. I recommend you spend time identifying your goals post-graduation as much as possible (considering where you would like to live as well).

Best,

Hi,

thanks for your reply till now,

If i re-take and score 700, will it make difference ? , i mean can i apply in the first round with 700 to some of top 15 US schools or you think i should actually drop my idea for top 15 b-schools considering my age ?

I would appreciate and welcome honestly :) , i believe your frank reply will help me channel my efforts in the right way.

Hi mbastar123,

Do not be overly concerned about your age. Here is a case study of a 37 year old who was accepted into Harvard Business School: http://www.stacyblackman.com/contact/

For your GMAT score, it will make a big difference if you improve your score from a 650 to 700.
