Hi Linda,
Thanks a lot for the feedback.
With my full time work, I'm not in a good position to take courses and obtain A's in a short period of time. Even if I could, by the time I have done enough courses for a more convincing profile, I would be in the age and WE group for EMBA. As for my GPA, while I was relocated to Toronto and was alone, I was simply young and didn't do well. My GPA started as low as 1.9 on the first year and it took me a few years to climb up to a 2.3 cumulative.
I don't think I'll be retaking GMAT again, for a couple of reasons. First, I cannot guarantee that I can get a higher score. Second, a higher score cannot guarantee that I will be admitted. Unless I can push the score to 700+.
This is what I plan to do:
- Apply to the above schools by round 2.
- Concentrate on my essays and resume to emphasize my work related achievements and increase in managerial responsibilities over the past years.
- I have reference from the now retired CEO of my company (previously VP of Citibank and VP of CIBC Canada) and a fellow Project Manager, who herself is an MBA. I'm going to see if I can add a third client reference to my profile as well.
Any other suggestions to shift focus of my application towards my experience?
Thanks,
Patrick
Many applications allow you to provide an optional essay to address weaknesses. I suggest you use that essay to provide context for your grades. You were young and alone and in a new country. Let the schools know what you were struggling with.
Best,
Linda
