I gave the GMAT last week and am considering applying to B-Schools next year. Looking for advice on GMAT retake, chances of an admit in Top B schools and in general.

GMAT - 700 (Q49/V36.AWA-6.0)

GPA - BE, Elec Engg (Top 5%), India
MS, Elec Engg (GPA: 3.8), US University

Goal - MBA in a top school will add brand equity. I am good at what I do but to graduate to the next level (both position and organization) and change status quo, I believe an MBA is the right platform

Extracurricular Activities - Founder/member of professional organizations in College, Organized events, Volunteered at Blind school, Home for the Aged.

Professional - Telecom consultant for 4+ years. Promoted every year. Experience in Functional and Technical roles in multiple areas in Telecom (Engineering, Sales, HR, IT). Mentored junior members.

Target schools - Undecided but have Wharton, Cornell, Stern, Columbia, Kellogg in mind. I am open to retaking the GMAT if it helps my chances.

Your GMAT isn't an issue. You need to focus on a more realistic set of schools.

Even with a 740+, you'll still be a big stretch for quite a number of those schools on your list.

Focus on Stern, Cornell, Yale, Ross, Duke, Darden, UCLA as your sweet spots. Limit your stretch to one school (one of Kellogg, Columbia).

Retake if you don't want to change schools.
