Hi Guys,
I am male (Indian) IT guy (SAP Consultant), 28 yrs old, working for 5+ years with a German MNC. Since last three years, I have been deputed in US.
I am looking to switch my career to finance (Investment professional). For now I was able to filter only one school UNC (Kenan-Flagler).
I gave my GMAT last October. I scored 710 (50, 35) AWA 5.0. I am not sure if this score will take me far enough. Especially my verbal score is too low.
I have also registered in the CFA program and have started preparing for level 1 (I hope this may help justify my switch).
Typically I have acted as a team lead and offshore coordinator. I got opportunity to work with almost every department within a company.
Extracurricular Activities:
I enjoy white-water rafting and playing racquet-ball. Already planning my second rafting trip for this summer. I am also trying to catch up on things which I should have done much earlier in my life:) learn swimming.
That's pretty much it.
Thanks
Yogi
Yogi,
Assuming that your leadership and impact profile at work is strong, your 710 GMAT should be good enough to get into UNC. Are you seeking a career track where your CFA will be a needed credential or are you getting it to show UNC that you are good at finance? The second reason seems weak to me. More important is *why* you want the career change into investment and earning a CFA doesn't explain that. You need to show UNC that you've talked to investment people and know what they do. I also recommend that you get some leadership outside of work, not just community involvement but leadership. Other finance-strong schools where you might have a shot are Duke, Yale, Rochester, and Texas. You may want to read
