Would appreciate a frank evaluation (and suggestions) of my candidature for INSEAD (Jan '16), LSB, Cambridge, Oxford and IMD for course starting in 2015 August. Also, since I have time with me, I would like to have an opinion on whether or not I should re-take GMAT. I believe I can score 740-50 in the second attempt.

A 740 vs. a 720 will only give you marginal, if any, extra attention. If you had a dramatically skewed result, it might make a difference to balance the score out, but yours appears well balanced. I think you have a decent shot at your targets, but you will need to more clearly align your past experiences with your future vision. Speak to what you liked about the energy industry and why it was good preparation for a management career. The more specific you are in casting your vision, the more mature and "ready" you will sound for b-school. Business schools like to see candidates with a solid grounding in their core competencies, and knowing where they want to go as well as how they plan to get there. You have all the "right stuff" to qualify you for your target schools, and packaging it together in an ideal way will ensure you get called in for interviews. Don't be afraid to be personal and expose the real you to the schools. Talk about why you want to do management and not just that you want to do it and you will be off to a good start. Finally, make sure you have compelling reasons for why you have chosen each of your target schools. If you convince them you bring valuable skills and experience to the table to bear for your classmates, you will go a long way in convincing them to give you a coveted seat in their programs. Let us know if we can help you pull it all together.
