Hi,
Below is the overview of my profile:
I am a female from India.
Graduated from BITS Pilani in Information Systems with a GPA of 7.3/10
I got a GMAT score of 730(50,38, IR:6, AWA:5) in my first attempt this year.
Target schools: Fuqua,Ross,UCLA
I worked with SAP for internship. I joined Oracle and worked there for 2 years after graduation as a Product Developer for their Sales Cloud and got a chance to work with many big names in fortune 500 who were customers of the product. I recently switched my job in June to take a position of Senior Software engineer at Citrix. Here I am working in a team which has a very cross functional role and works with all the product teams at Citrix. I will be 24 and will have 3 years of work experience on matriculation.
I was an active contributor in CSR team at Oracle.I was also a core member of fun at work activities( organized events like singing concert, annual day etc).I have also joined the CSR team and Toastmasters at Citrix.
Undergrad: I was a core member of a committee responsible for organizing college fests. I also was among the founding members of film making club in college. I was part of the fashion society in college as well . I also organized various hackathons and gaming events in college.
Post MBA goals: Product Marketing and Management/IT Strategy ( Google,Amazon,Apple etc)
My concerns are being probably among the youngest applicants, categorized in the over represented Indian IT pool and a recent job switch.Would it help to retake the GMAT for a better score?
Thanks a lot in advance!
Hi there djain0702
First up, congratulations on building up a profile that is quite aligned to your ambitious future goals.
Next, some points to consider as you go about planning:
- While Fuqua, Ross, and UCLA are good choices, perhaps you should look at broadening your list. There are many other excellent options out there, and you should probably include a couple of target to safe schools in your list as well.
- The BITS Pilani degree, and the work with Oracle and Citrix really help
- In terms of ECA, you are well placed. CSR and fests might not really get you that much credit, but film-making certainly will (if it was a significant level and got some traction). You will find all of these really handy when applying to schools such as Ross and Cornell (if it makes it to your list)
- Retaking the GMAT when applying to top schools is a good idea if you feel you can hit 750+. That will also help make up for the fact that your work ex is in the lower part of the spectrum for successful applicants to these schools, and you are a tech candidate.
Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more questions as needed.
