Please evaluate my profile (low GPA, high GMAT)

First, without clear goals, I wonder whether it even makes sense to apply to MBA programs. After all, internship recruiters are on campus as early as the fall. If you don’t know what you want to do, how will you avail yourself of this process?

You’re young enough that you don’t need to apply this year – one thing to possibly consider is to wait a year, take a couple of reputable online courses in relevant topics and earn A’s – and at the same time think through and define your goals. Then you can apply with a track record of some academic success (plus demonstrating seriousness to address your weakness) to really leverage your strong GMAT, plus you will be able to make a convincing case for your goals and actually get the most of the MBA.

That said, if you plan to apply this year still, I do think that with the current GPA it will be tough even with the schools you list. Certainly Stern, Tuck, Darden, etc. would be high reaches. The strong GMAT tells them that you’re smart in a relevant way, but there still is nothing to show that you can succeed in an academic environment – something rather different. This is what an “alternate transcript” would do.
