Please evalute my profile [#permalink] New post 15 Mar 2008, 14:00
Hi,

I am 27 years old Indian with 6 years of post-degree experience in IT industry though I started working much before I completed my graduation.

I appeared for GMAT thrice and the scores are 580, 670 and 640.

Won prizes in Quiz and elocution in school every year. I was the president of a Rotaract club, youth wing of Rotary International, a non-profit NGO for an year and successfully lead a team of ~30 members who were not bound by any commitment and was the member of the club for 7 years since my college days. During this period, organized and participated in many programs of community service and self development.
My weakest link in my profile is my poor academics. I have a bachelors in Mathematics from Mumbai University with very low GPA. In terms of % marks, it is 50%. But I have grown in my job through hard work and commitment and now working with one of the biggest IT companies in the world since more than an year. The reason I wish to go for an MBA is to enhance my growth prospects. Also, I wish to alter my role from a pure technical professional to an analyst kind of role in Storage domain or a techno-commercial writer/columnist with a well-known publishing house eventually starting on my own.

As part of my other skills , I have excellent communication skills, natural leadership skills and the ability to galvanize a side and can write poems.

I am looking for a 1 year MBA program at IMD, Warwick, Cranfield, Cass. Do you think I have a strong profile to be considered for these schools.

Thanks.

Hello Mr.Paul Bodine,
Could you please spare sometime to evaluate my profile. I have to apply to IMD by next week and pretty much depends on your view on my profile.

Thanks again for your consideration..

-Amit

Amit05,

My apologies for the late reply. I've been under the gun with a publisher's deadline. Your community leadership looks strong, but you're correct that your academics are your weakness. I think you're overreaching with IMD, but Warwick, Cass, and Cranfield are doable. I would discourage you from applying to IMD, but not the others. Your 670 GMAT goes some way toward offsetting your GPA, but you also have other challenges, like showing leadership and atypical career growth in your job and standing out from the other Male Indian IT applicants.

Hope this helps.
