Please help...how to improve efficiency and speed in verbal [#permalink] New post 21 Aug 2013, 03:25
Hi All,

I have done with basics for Verbal and completed verbal OG 13 questions. Now in order to start practicing Verbal tests. I have prepared the tests of 40 to 50 questions from 1000 series and try to complete the test in 75 to 80 minutes. But now the problem I am facing after giving 7 such tests is that I am able to do only 29 ques that too with 50% efficiency. So how can I improve my speed as well as efficiency and one more que is my approach of mixing SC CR and RC ques to make tests is right???

Looking forward for some good suggestion which I can follow.

Thanks & regards,

Hi Vikas,

I recommend short timed quizzes.

The best way to practice pacing and speed in not with full length tests. Rather, take short quizzes. Give yourself about 2 minutes per CR, one minute per SC, 4 minutes per passage, and 1.5 minutes per CR questions--do practice in 10-15 minute increments. It's very hard to learn proper pacing from a full CAT, because if you make timing mistakes at the beginning of the verbal section, you won't get feedback till an hour later when the section ends! But once you can do 5 questions in 10 minutes and 10 questions in 20, an entire verbal section isn't too far removed.

Hope this helps, and best of luck prepping!
