Please Help me in choosing right Country..... [#permalink] New post 22 Feb 2010, 07:59
Hey Everyone

I m Sanchit Sharma a new member of this wonderful club.....I belong to a Business Family and was involved in family biz. since 2007 although i finished my Graduation in 2009....

In late 2008 I Opened a small Paint Firm in INDIA and was not looking for any MBA....but with high level of corruptions and high level of cheating involve in business :(
I wanted to leave business and do my MBA from abroad so i can get away from this MESS

So i began studyin for my GMAT but i m unable to decide which COUNTRY'S b-schools to target??

I mean recently USA and UK which were HOT destinations suddenly made alot of changes which are not favourable for INDIANS i mean no JOBS and PR problems...

with recent assaults on INDIANS AUSTRALIA is a BIG NO....

Which leaves me with options of CANADA and NEW ZEALAND...........

so I will be greatful if u EXPERTS can help me in finding rite country for me...

and pls tell me both sides PROS and CONS of each option

My basic criterias are GOOD RETURN on investment, SAFE COUNTRY, LOW LEVEL OF CORRUPTION, EASY PR rules and preferably ENGLISH speaking because apart from HINDI its the only language in which i can interact

I am sorry for such a long thread....

So looking forward for your replies

thanking You in ADVANCE

With WARM REGARDS

canada seems like a good target for you. we have lots of ethnic diversity here. it's also relatively easy to get jobs with the local mba's in the local markets after graduation (especially if you're not too picky with what specific type of work you want to do but would be happy to just have a solid good paying job that'll get you your PR status). it's pretty safe here, environment is good, it's politically stable, there's not a lot of corruption (especially compared to asia), and overall the people are friendly. plus here in toronto the indian population is pretty huge...there are neighborhoods where you can literally live day to day without speaking english.

can't speak to australia, but from what i've heard, it's very similar to canada except for the ethnic diversity.

Canada is a good option, if you do an MBA here you can work here for the next one year within which you need to find a sponsor for your PR.

Canada has got no funding/loans for foreign students especially for MBAs (as far as i know), so thats an issue.

in addition to it only toronto and GTA (area near toronto) are cosmopolitan. If you end up somewhere like quebec city/montreal that its kind of unsafe as there is a strong racist feeling in those areas.

I have been in toronto for the last 3 years and its pretty cool place to live. my cousins are citizens here , they all got a job but not something that matches their education. one guy is a petrochemical engineer , had great experience in middle east but now working for toronto transit as a driver....thats how it is in canada
