Please Help w/ School Selection for 3rd Round App [#permalink] New post 16 Jan 2006, 15:09
Hi, I would really appreciate some advice regarding my chances of being accepted third rounds at one of the following schools based on my profile (or any additional suggested schools?):
- University of North Carolina
- Emory
- UT-Austin
- NYU
- University of Maryland

Do you think I need to be above the avg. GMAT when applying 3rd rounds or is around the avg sufficient?

Profile:
28yr-old white female
Undergrad: Penn State Business 3.5 GPA Major- Mgmt Info Systems
GMAT - 670 q42/v40
Work - 6 years Management/IT Consulting w/ BearingPoint. Client work including project mgmt, software development, business process reengineering. Client- Department of State - Security Clearance required.
Intended Major - Marketing

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Bumping this up...would greatly appreciate advice!

Also, a friend hired an application consultant who said he will be hurt by the fact that is a white male over 25 and also by the fact that his is a consultant. Is that true for white females over 25? Please advise!

In general it is harder to get accepted 3rd round than in the earlier rounds, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't apply. You now have to decide if you want to wait until R1 next year or apply R3 this year. You can't turn back the clock and apply R1 or R2 or this year.

Please see Should you Apply Late?

NYU is a stretch. You are competitive at the other schools and applying appropriately.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice!

Would you consider Cornell a stretch as well? Less so than NYU or same?
