Age - 32
GMAT - 690 (I can not retake)
Nationality - India
Undergrads - Bachelors in Management

Work experience - 10 years
Work profile - Regional Manager for a wealth management company, leading a team of managers for last 6 years.so decent leadership experience.

Hi,

You have a decent profile with good GMAT Score. You are in perfect stage of your career. As per your GMAT Score i would recommend you to target Cornell, Tepper, USC and Kelley which falls in the range of 690-700 average GMAT Score. LBS, INSEAD, Tuck, Darden and Michigan needs a high GMAT Score so they are out of reach, but Darden and Michigan can be stretched if you showcase your essays and profile in a very good way.

There are many more but the above list comprises of a few good ones you should definitely target. It is highly advisable in your case to focus on your application evaluation essays. This is where you can demonstrate your leadership qualities, achievements, professional vision and other abilities. A well presented and perfectly written essay is absolutely critical to make a strong case for yourself during the final interview and more so when you have an average GMAT score.

The next step for you is to focus more on your application essays & recommendations for these Business Schools.

It is advisable to seek assistance from professional consultants for guidance who can more closely review your situation and provide you with a list of B Schools where you would have chances of converting your application to admission. You should also get your essays reviewed from them before sending it along with your application to better your prospects.

Also visit http://www.general-ed.com/b-school-selection-process , this can help you to select the business school as per your requirement and profile and visit http://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschoolhere you can find your chances of getting admit in a business school chosen by you.

Also if you happen to be based out of either Delhi, Bangalore or Mumbai, you can attend a MBA workshop by the ISB Admissions Director along with alumnus of various global B-Schools during the dates mentioned in this links http://www.general-ed.com/workshops-and-seminars

Feel free to post any other query or concern that you might have.

Hi Appstar,

The b-schools that you have chosen are very competitive and would like to see more interesting stuff on your actual application. For instance, with 10 years of experience under your belt, they would want to know about more than 'decent leadership experience' - so I hope, you can pull out some great leadership examples from your work life. Career progression would be another important criteria.

Your age is slightly more than the average of 28 years at these b-schools. Explain in the essays, why an MBA is imperative for you at this stage and how will you fit into the class of the b-schools you are targeting. From our experience of working with applicants, I know that most people produce unconvincing answers here.

I think Tepper is a good choice for you as they are more favorable to older applicants. So are Foster at University of Washington and Smeal at Penn State.

You can also consider the Sloan Masters in Leadership and Strategy, which is for senior folks.
