By the way, your Q2 and Q3 would probably find more attention in the appropriate MBA forums. Most folks move over there by March and then it is the other way around June through October.

If you are mostly suffering from SC, that's great - it is a much easier area to improve than RC and I can recommend to you the usual suspects - Manhattan GMAT SC Book and Kaplan Verbal book. They seem to resonate with most people. After you are done with them, it is usually nice to polish it off with OG if you have it or if not, you can get the OG Verbal Guide. Even though it does not really have any strategies, it does have the real questions, which Manhattan and Kaplan do not, so the Verbal OG will get your ear tuned, so to speak.

However, my secret weapon against SC was a book currently discountinued - not sure why as I loved it and still have a frail copy in my library: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076458 ... 0764586092

Edited to add: actually my SC book was previous edition from 1995:

Thank You for your reply.

I would really appreciate any more tips that you (or anyone) might have on how to improve CR & SC.

Hello All,

Just got back from GMAT test center. I improved my score from 530 to 610 but was really expecting around 700.

I thought I had Verbal under control but I guess I was wrong.

Guys, I want to go to NYU for part time MBA.

Q1. With 610, can I make it to NYU part time? What else can I do to get into NYU (extra course work/credits etc.,)?
Q2. How can I improve my Verbal score from 27 to say around 37? (I did all the Manhattan series books + numerous GMAT prep tests)
Q3. What other good schools can I get into?

I am down but hopeful that I will crack this test. But with family, work and health issues its getting a bit tough.

Thank you in advance.
Dreamer

Gurpreet,

I did all MGMAT Math books (revised them numerous times) and GMATClub tests (2 times). Also, make sure that you do GMATPrep tests multiple times. Even if the test is a repeat, you will still have some new questions in it. So keep doing them over and over unless you dont see any new Math questions.

KEEP THE CONFIDENCE HIGH WHILE DOING THE TEST AND DONT SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON A QUESTION. KEEP MOVING IN THE TEST.

Thank you.
