plz help-need ur advice over which books to study for accoun

plz help-need ur advice over which books to study for accoun [#permalink] New post 15 Aug 2007, 23:59
hi guys
i am looking to make my base solid in accounting
and after a bit net searching,arrived at conclusion
that i should start with following-
1.principals of financial accounting
2.principals of management/managerial accounting
3.intermediate financial accontuing
4.intermediate managerial/management accounting
5.audit


could some1 plz suggest me some good books
and if possible then links also for above topics?

and if u think i am not on the right track then plz advice me
i am a new commer in field of acc0unts

i wld appreciate ur help

i think u gotta start with Principles of Financial accounting and principles of managerial accounting,
i had those courses on my first year of BBA.
those courses are intruduciton to accounting.

could you plz provide names of few books one
shld start study with in order to get mastery over
financial accounting and management accounting

actually my purpose is to get hold of accounts before attending
master in accounting
would you suggest some other areas whihc i must
study in addition to fin acc and managerial acc??

Corporate Finance is a must for accountants,
Is it US GAAP you want to study or other systems like UK one or any others. it really depends on the system you want to study.

just clarify then i will put the list of books.

A masters in accounting is not as valuable as you think. For the most part, a Macc is an overpriced CPA review course. It makes sense if you have an undergrad in a business-related area and want to work in public accounting.
IMO, the best route is business admin. undergrad -> pass cpa ->get audit experience -> get an MBA from a good school.

An MBT/MST is a different story.
