42% (00:26) wrong based on 14 sessions
Points A, B, C and D are on the number line, not necessarily in that order. If the distance between A and B is 18 and the distance between C& D is 8, what is the distance between B & D
1) Distance between C & A is same as distance between C & B.
2) A is to the left of the line.

Points A, B, C and D are on the number line, not necessarily in that order. If the distance between A and B is 18 and the distance between C& D is 8, what is the distance between B & D

2) A is to the left of the line. What does it mean: "A is to the left of the line"? Does the stmnt 2 read correctly? I think something is missing there. Anyhow, I think that depending on what is missing in the statement, the answer is likely C, and BD is either 1 or 17.

Answer is E.
Stmt 1: Tell us that the C lies in the center between A and B. Nothing about direction of A or B or if D is to the left or
right of C. Insufficient.
Stmt 2: A is to the left of the line i.e left of B. Insufficient.
Combine: Tell us where all the point lies but does not tell that if D it to the left or right so Insufficient.

From statement 1, C is in between A and B - so it could be that C is 9 from A and C is 9 from B. It already says that between C and D it is 8 - but it doesn't say where D is - so we can't get the distance between D and B.
From statement 2, A is to the left of B - thats all the information. So it is insufficient.
We are down to C and E. When we take it together - again we don't know where D is - so we can't find B and D distance - so insufficient.
Answer is E.

Sorry, I really messed this up while typing. A is to the left of D on the number line.

Well, I did it again. Apparently I can't type. I sincerly apologize.

Well doesn't the answer still remain E
A is left of D could mean either D is left of C or right of C - if it is right of C, distance between B and D is 1, if it is left of C, it would be 17.
Correct me, if I am wrong.
