It is E to me for ||ism "include melting of and a rise..."

'Possible...may' seem redundant so A, B C are out

D - what is melting the polar ice caps? Changes meaning....

initially picked D, can see why its E now.

Since the first part of the sentence says 'Possible', I figured saying 'may' would be redundant, so immediately eliminated choices with may.

I checked this in dictionary,

rise : Verb
rising : Noun
Melting : Noun

and now I am more confused :cry:

I agree that rise is a verb but it can also work as a noun. You don't use article "a" with verbs. "rise" is a noun in this context. Here "rise" is working as a noun. Here is the link
