Good luck all, I can't believe it's all starting again.

Wow, we are officially not the current applicants anymore, we're just has-beens! Reading those essays just gave me major heart burn. Good luck everyone who is applying! Let me know if I can be of any help! Might want to wait until I'm actually at school and know about Columbia though...

I am submitting my application this month :). I wonder if they automatically give admission to the first submission.

This month hailmary! You probs won't have even heard from your waitlists by that point! They've gotta respect the first applicant I would think! Dedication! Good luck!

Yes, but if I get my CBS admit (BIG "IF") by start of Aug, I will matriculate. Plus, I am applying for the J-term, so we both will be classmates.

I'm in for ED! I really like these essays... they seem much easier than last year's! very practical questions, less of all that BS fluff.

Also I have a 710 gmat and am thinking about retaking. How much do you think scoring a 750 would increase one's chances?

Are you going to apply even if you get into Duke?

Honestly, 710 is good enough for any school - now, if you are from an overrepresented background (indian IT, white finance male etc), then a 750 might help more. With my super low score (<640), I was waitlisted at 3 top schools and invited for an interview at other 2. I think after you hit 680+, it comes down how you execute your application.

I agree with you, except I am from a very over represented background: white male finance. I also want to go into a competitive field, investment managment. I'm also coming from a very frowned upon Bschool career, proprietary trading.

I will be reapplying to Columbia this year. I am still praying I get off the WL at NYU before but need to be realistic. This was my first application last year and I have improved greatly on what needs to be included. Hoping they are favorable to reapplicants but we shall see...

I have heard that CBS loves reapplicants. Not sure if I have the stats to back this.

Re-taking GRE next Tuesday and hoping to do MUCH better...like others, I'm on too many wait lists, and I gotta start looking at possibly reapplying next year. I've also heard that Columbia loves reapplicants. Can't believe their application is already available! Sucks I gotta do the reapplicant essay but oh well, it's worth it!

Random question...

As a reapplicant, I can't review my prior application. I had it saved on my work computer but had a switch of computers a few months back and apparently it didn't copy over. I don't think it's a big deal when re-doing the extracurriculars and what not if they aren't word for word the same as the last year but do other people have insight/thoughts?

As long as your dates are consistent, I think you're fine!

Most likely in for RD, probably submit around November. I'm planning on going out to NYC to visit in October.

Does anyone know if there is any advantage at all to applying earlier in the RD cycle? Will you hear back earlier if you submit in say September for RD vs October or November?
