Ok just to add - "Since" is essential to the construct of the above sentense because it is giving a reason that explains the second part. "Since I am tall, I need longer sleeves"

It is also correct grammatically if you say "When I am tall, I need longer sleeves" but do you see how the meaning has changed here? Since implies it is a "Universal Truth" or a "fact". Using "When..." would make it a conditional clause.

In the above example, they speak of a "fact" not a "Conditional Clause" & hence "Since" is the most appropriate choice! I am sorry, I didnt read your complete question the first time! Now I hope I have addrerssed your doubt.

Re: Since the majority of customers are not complaining [#permalink]
the correct answer is "c" because it's in simple present tense and "since" gives the reason.

A. Since the majority of customers are not complaining
B. Since the majority of customers have not complained
C. Since the majority of customers do not complain
D. When the majority of customers do not complain
E. In the event that the majority of customers are not complaining

Can somebody please explain the usage of since here

Just watch out for the perfect tense used in the opening clause. Lot of us here follow MGMAT and they advise perfect tense with Since. However that verb is inserted in the non underline part of the sentence so just don't randomly pick A. Read the non underlined part as carefully. I have been concentrating on underlined part alone and missed out on few questions. So, just want to share my mistakes so that we all can learn from each other :)

Since the majority of customers are not complaining when they are dissatisfied, even those organizations most concerned with customer service have only a single opportunity to establish brand loyalty.

A. Since the majority of customers are not complaining
B. Since the majority of customers have not complained
C. Since the majority of customers do not complain
D. When the majority of customers do not complain
E. In the event that the majority of customers are not complaining

This sentence makes little sense to me. What is it trying to say?
Since customers do not complain...companies have opportunity to establish brand?

Hi Cumulonimbus,

In my view this is what the sentence is trying to say (bold sections are stated others are inference):

Customers Do not complain

So if they have a bad experience, they will probably just walk away

So if product is bad people will only buy it once.

So companies have only one shot to ensure loyalty

So get your product correct first time!
