What is the median of 15 integers?

The median of a set with odd (15) numbers is the middle term.

(1) Exactly seven of the numbers are greater than 7. Not sufficient.
(2) Exactly seven of the numbers are less than 7. Not sufficient.

(1)+(2) Since exactly seven numbers are greater than 7 and exactly seven numbers are less than 7, then the remaining 15th number is neither more than 7 nor less than seven, so it IS 7. In addition it's the middle number, thus median=7. Sufficient.

Answer: C.

If 7 numbers are greater than 7, then situation could be

1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8 numbers greater all number greater than 7
so median is 7.
Or
7,7,7,7,7,7,7, 8 numbers greater than 7, so median is 7.

Similarly for less than 7 condition.
whats wrong ?

Now, your examples does not satisfy any of the conditions.

Beg you pardon,

let number set be

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15
or
7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15

Median or middle number is 7 and 7 numbers are greater than 7

So 7 can be median from A, similarly from B . Whats wrong ?

I am showing only option A possibilties,

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 --> there are six numbers less than 7, but 7 greater than 7, right ?
7,7,7,7,7,7,7,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 --> no number is less than 7, but 7 greater than 7, right ?

One more thing, would it be advisable to target only 700 questions for practice/ improvement ? gmatclub has zillions of practice problems but not all can be solved in limited time / constraints we have :roll:

I don't understand what you mean by the red part.
