Hi there,
Thanks for posting. You've made a good start on self-analysis, which also demonstrates a certain level of awareness of who you are which will hopefully translate well in your essays as well, fyi.
Overall you seem to be well-positioned for Columbia and likely will be able to express how you feel strongly about their program and in your early decision application. As I see it you have the following strengths:
-GMAT score
-appears to be certain level of maturity & self awareness/reflection that is appreciated
- solid work experience including promotions/progression
-sounds like some good leadership and management experience you can draw from (and bring to the classroom)
-your successful real estate investment venture sounds like great experience as well
-CFA
-some community involvement
Potential weaknesses or challenges:
-GPA (though your explanation helps and I would include that in the optional essay; and mention that final-year GPA. Better late than never!)
-less involved community/volunteering experience as you stated, but you do still have some
Unknowns:
-essays/letters of rec/interview
-more in-depth of your personal and professional strengths and accomplishments (you would detail more in applications obviously)
You could probably slightly tighten up your goal description as well; having a couple of options can work just make sure it doesn't too uncertain or unclear.
Columbia definitely appreciates applicants who KNOW and LOVE them
, so I think it's great that you'll do a visit, speak with students, see a class, all of that. Be sure you have clear reasons why Columbia is right for YOU personally, above and beyond any generic things about Columbia that anyone could state or read in a brochure etc.
Best of luck, please keep us posted on any questions and your progress, and if you would like to speak further with a consultant at any point we do offer a free 30 min consult. Or come back here with q's. Good luck!
