IMO C.


(A) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling is the coyote, possessing so much creativity and foresight that makes them one of the most enduring species of the ecosystem -- is ....them .. incorrect

B) ) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling are the coyotes, possessing so much creativity and foresight , which makes them one of the most enduring species of the ecosystem -- which refers to only foresight .. incorrect

C) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling are the coyotes, possessing so much creativity and foresight that make them one of the most enduring species of the ecosystem - correct

(D) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling is the coyote, one of the most enduring species made so by much creativity and foresight - changes the meaning ..

(E)) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling are the coyotes, one of the most enduring species made by much creativity and foresight - changes the meaning...

Hi sayantanc2k,
Can we split these based on "coyote is " and "coyote are"? Just trying to understand the concept here, although there are others errors in correct choices too.

The coyote is: correct ( the species called coyote... means all coyotes are)
A coyote is: correct ( any animal from the above species)
The coyote are: wrong

Option A does not match with original sentence. if it did then would A be the correct answer ?

(C) in hunting and as social as human beings in dwelling are the coyotes, possessing so much creativity and foresight that make them one of the most enduring species of the ecosystem
A will still not be okay.
What is tested first here is whether we should use the singular coyote or coyotes.
The correct choice should be the plural coyotes because
1. the coyotes are being compared with some other plurals such as predators and human beings, both plurals.
What is tested second here is the use of the verb for the two nouns 'creativity and foresight'. Obviously, 'that make' as in C is the correct verb.

What is the issue in option E, was stuck between option C and option E.

Hello arya251294,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, Option E alters the meaning of the sentence through the phrase "one of the most enduring species made by much creativity and foresight"; the construction of this phrase illogically implies that coyotes are one of the most enduring species and, as a separate action, were somehow "made" or produced through "much creativity and foresight"; the intended meaning is that having so much creativity and foresight makes coyotes one of the most enduring species of the ecosystem.
