GMAT Club has been a great resource so far. To help others in their journeys, I am going to chart my own GMAT experience here.
Background: I have over 10+ years postgrad work experience in a professional environment and management. I am applying to Executive MBA programs and wanted to supplement my application with the GMAT due to so-so grades in the past. I am aiming for the 700 club, but would be happy with high 600's. I've already turned in my apps, so hence the GMAT in one month. I had thought about the Veritas Prep and
Manhattan GMAT courses, but there are just too many courses in the limited amount of time, plus they are fairly cost prohibitive. So I am taking a self-study approach.
Self-Study Prep Books:OG 2015
Kaplan Premier 2015
Manhattan GMAT Official Guide Companion
???
10/15/2014Before even opening a GMAT book, I took the free Veritas Prep CAT exam for diagnostic.
Score: 600 / Q43 and V30
Conclusion: I felt that I got lucky on a few Quant questions, but bombed some Verbal questions that I should have known. Either way, I felt that I needed to brush up on fundamentals + learn GMAT specific strategies. While ultimately I know what the exam is looking for, this is unlike other standardized exams or professional exams I have taken in the way the questions are presented.
10/19/2014Started the Veritas Prep On Demand series. The first video is free online. (Does this count as a course or is this self-study?) Shall see how insightful this is.
Manhattan GMAT also offers a free first course, but those are "live" either online or in person.
