Hi,
I am Meghna, I have been preparing for Gmat from past 4 months. I am well versed with the concepts both in verbal and quant and have preparing exhaustively. I have practiced all sorts of questions from all sorts of relevant material only stone I left unturned is to give lot of Mock Tests. I am now left with only 15 days and I am not scoring well in mock test, mainly its because I am not able to keep up with the time alloted to each question and not able to apply concept and solve the question in the limited time as a result of which I end up doing lot of reckless mistakes. I have been scoring well in without time frame CATs but with clock ticking on my head I am not able to perform well. pls pls pls help me how to improve accuracy and finish the test on time with maximum correct answers or should I just reschedule ? pls pls pls pls pls pls help !!!!
Thanks

Hi Meghna,
Sorry to hear you're struggling. From my experience, scoring well without a timer but poorly with a timer in an indication of not knowing how to apply the appropriate strategy to each question. Although your conceptual understanding might be strong and you may eventually reach the correct answer, the GMAT isn't interested in knowing if you can do arithmetic. They are interested in knowing that you can apply the right problem solving technique in the most efficient way possible. My favorite example of this is the following type of problem:
Solve: 23,442 X 23,421.
a) 46,152
b) 5,689,435
c) 549,035,082
d) 523,141,481
e) 182,791,727
Now, you could solve this problem diligently and arrive at the right answer, but it would be very tedious. Instead, if you pay attention to strategy, you would realize that the ones digit must equal 2, and you can eliminate 3 answers. Then from the remaining 2 answer choices, only one number is close to being big enough. Using a strategy like this turns this from a 2 minute problem into a 15 second problem.
Given your short time frame, I suggest you check out a great guide on Platinum GMAT (it's free!):

Thank you very much for your reply
. I was looking for something like this to clear my way through. As I am done with the theory part and non timed practice I was confused about my next action plan on scoring well. The great guide definitely have some great tips to be followed. I will implement these tips for sure, hoping this would improve my performance. My next strategy is to give atleast 2 mock test in a day, analyze, revise and practice more and more with a time frame. The verbal score seems to improve (
) but I am struggling with quant (Specially DS Topics like inequalities,P&C and Probability). Hoping and praying things would go well in the end
Thank you very much again for your post and giving me the guide
