Guys! this thread has no life!
Come on.. last year there were so many posts by now.. The results day is less than a week away!
Here goes some more
data analytics!
Lets talk of the '
WAITLIST' decision at SOM.. What fraction will they Waitlist from the interviewees and what fraction from the total applicants who are not called for interviews? Any insights from last year's posts?
More or less this year R1 Gmatclub pool is
statistically similar to last year's R1 pool.
2014 intake R1 pool:
50 (interviewed)/199 (total R1 applicants) ->
37 Final Admits (direct + after waitlist)
2015 intake R1 pool:
45 (interviewed)/187 (total R1 applicants) ->
33-35?? (Any guesses here?)
(Possibly some R1 admits would have joined the thread after their admits last year, thereby increasing the total number of admits)
Experts such as
aerien can shed some light on the waitlist dynamics at Yale.
aerien was waitlist thread master for last year (though (s)he is not wait listed i believe) and current MBA candidate at SOM.
Thanks in advance for your comments/insights.
Ah,
CentralBanker, you think too highly of me. I was accepted R1 so I don't know much about the waitlist specifics personally. Unless there's been a huge change from prior years, the general consensus across these boards for most schools (not Yale specific since I don't know numbers) is that once you get to the interview stage you have a 50/50 shot...and from there, you generally will be accepted or put on the waitlist unless you did something ridiculously bad in your interview or didn't show up at all. Of course, you all could surprise me with that, but I do hope there will be a lot of GREEN updates next week here!

Will R1 decisions be announced only on December 8 or will they be announced before that?
Again, unless things have changed from last year (which could happen -- see the Fuqua R2 thread for the 2015 intake), SOM usually calls people on the day of (in this round, December 8th). The timing of calls goes all day with waitlists and dings going out via email towards EOD. If you want to assess times, check the past few years threads -- I don't recall any order by states/time zones in particular except for internationals who generally tend to hear earlier in the day as that would be their/your evening. You'll find that's pretty common though as adcom does want to call you at a "normal" hour for you.
Best of luck all. If anyone's super intense like I was, you can always make a countdown clock. I don't particularly recommend it as stress begets stress, but I know some of you just need something to pass the time
