It's great to see so many people with scholarships! Congratulations to all admitted students! :)
We can all now breathe easy while waiting for decisions from other schools.

For people curious about scholarships, P&Q did an analysis the other day of the scholarships offered by top schools:

https://poetsandquants.com/2014/11/20/mb ... schools/2/

Tepper is one of the more generous schools, with 57% of students on scholarship with an average award of $21k. It looks like Fuqua is very miserly with aid, 33% of students on scholarship with ~20k average award. I'm going to focus on Darden for my next round of apps, which has an average award of $30k and 43% of students receiving aid!

This just rubs salt in my wounds. I got a WL at 750 GMAT. Don't think that's a criteria though. The sample space here is small.

Is there a different letter or it is written somewhere in the admission letter?

Hey keep your head up razordude1717

At least you interviewed at Sloan and should have a decent chance there! All you need is one acceptance and Sloan's not a bad school!

There's also R2...

Is there any possibility for waitlisted candidates to get feedback so as they can improve on it and submit the updates accordingly?? My worry is working on something that is not a concern for school might be counter productive.

How's the after work life? Does Tepper have good social events to "network" with fellow students?

Can anyone share what is the wait-list message if he or she does not mind sharing it. Just wanted to know what exactly is the message.

Since it was asked:

Dear XXX XXXX,

Thank you for your application to the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. Although we are very impressed with your credentials, we are unable to offer you admission to the Master of Business Administration Program at this time as our application pool is extremely competitive. We have placed your name, along with the names of other qualified candidates, on our Fall 2015 Wait List.

If you wish to accept your place on our wait list, please immediately follow these steps:
Click on the link at the top of the page to access the main menu
From the main menu, click on the link
Then select the "Waitlist Additional Updates" link on the left-hand navigation
Finally, check the box if you would like to remain on the wait list. You may return at a later time if you would like to upload any supplementary materials.
Often candidates can self-assess opportunities to strengthen their application by considering our recent MBA class profile and their own recent academic and professional accomplishments. Examples of supplementary materials you may wish to submit include:
An updated test score (GMAT, GRE, TOEFL or IELTS)
An updated resume or work history alerting us to promotions and updates
An additional essay that further details your stated post-MBA career goals, including relevant transferable skills needed for the position you wish to obtain immediately after graduation
Please note, wait-listed candidates must submit additional information no later than March 6, 2015, in order for it to be considered by the Admissions Committee. At each future decision notification date, you will receive an updated decision via email. We expect to conduct a final review of our wait list by mid-summer.

Send all email correspondence directly to mba-admissions@andrew.cmu.edu, rather than to any individual admissions team member. In the subject line, please include: Wait-Listed Candidate, Your Name. This will allow our team to quickly identify and efficiently handle these important emails. In particular, it is important to email us should your contact information (address, email, phone numbers) change.

We know how difficult it is to wait for a final decision and very much appreciate your patience through this important process.

Warm regards,

Kelly R. Wilson

Hm, not entirely sure I understand your question. In general, I think all bschools have a great social life among fellow students. We will basically be around each other for the next two years 24/7! Tepper in particular has b**rs every Friday where students, partners, families, staff, and faculty can enjoy free food and beer while socializing and playing some games. We just had our winter formal; in general, there are many clubs and social events year round.

Tepper has a small class size and Pittsburgh, while a city in its own right, is kinda in the middle of nowhere. Basically, this creates a strong community amongst students and we all get to know each other really well. This is in contrast with schools in NYC/Chicago, where students usually have a social group already within the city outside of school.

I'm a current 1st year at Tepper now- first of all, congrats to all the new admits!

Second, if you were waitlisted, just keep being patient, and it'll all work out! There are lots of stories of waitlisted people here that are now doing really well here. Once you start school, wherever you end up, it doesn't even matter one bit, you're on the same playing field as everyone else.

Hi EngineeringMBA

Could you suggest a few tips on how the W/L candidates should proceed from here on. What's the protocol we should follow? Sitting ideal doesn't sound very good to me.
