Re: Calling all UCLA-Anderson Applicants(2015 Intake)Class of 17 [#permalink]
FROM NewsUCLA: And now, Round 2
We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and your 2015 is off to a great start!

Our office returned from the university winter closure just in time to get settled in before the Round 2 application deadline earlier this month, and we've been busy reading files and sending interview invitations since then.  Round 2 is typically our biggest round by volume so it will take a bit more time to get through every single one of our applications, but reading is a top priority around here and we're doing our best evaluate files as efficiently as possible.

Interview invitations are being sent regularly, and the process is the same as in Round 1, so candidates who receive an invitation can schedule either an in-person or Skype interview with 2nd year student interviewers.  At this point, our hope is to send the majority of interview invites by the end of February, but if anything changes we'll keep you posted.

For our Round 1 candidates waiting for a decision, decision day is quickly approaching this week on the 28th - hang in there for just a little while longer!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions via the comments or by sending us an email.

Hi, could you guys who have gotten interview invitation tell me if the status on the application system would change after an invitation is sent? Thanks. The email I registered for application is no longer available to use......

Once you're been invited to interview, you will see a change when you login into the online UCLA application. Your application will show the documents you're required to send to UCLA to complete the application including Official School transcripts, Official Test Scores, and Other Supporting Documents. These documents are explained in detail in the email which is sent with the interview invitation.

Also, you'll need an active email to schedule and confirm your interview date/time. Therefore, I would update your contact info with a current email.

thank you a lot!

so people 2 days to go with some chances of getting the result tomorrow for the R1 applicants. Anybody nervous or let me rephrase that to anybody not nervous?

I'm surprisingly more calm today than I've been for the past month! I think this wait has just worn me down, even though Anderson is my top pick! I'm sure on Wednesday I'll go back to freaking out.

For early admit, they did calls the day before posting decisions online. Anyone know if they'll be doing calls tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday?

well I think the anxiety is directly proportional to what the decision means to you it could be a matter of top choice vs 2nd or scholarship for one candidate and for some one it might be life altering opportunity.

PS: Re reading the above its sounds a little cheezy and maybe a little over exaggerated but in my opinion it certainly holds true..

For those that get admitted over the next couple days, don't forget to check-in on the "Admitted Student" thread, ucla-anderson-class-of-2017-admitted-students-191146.html. Good luck everyone, and please feel free to reach out with any questions!

What percentage of students are called to interview from the applicant pool? And what percentage of those applicants get admitted?

Just curious...:)

Also if anyone had an interview recently via skype recently, how was it?

I think this was posted on the thread a few days back. These numbers were not official but from the 3500-4000 apps that the college received 1000 were called for the interview and around 600-700 were given admit. Not sure what the break up of various rounds was.

I had mine. It was very informal, much more so than my other two interviews. You're interviewing with a 2nd year student so that makes sense. Also, the whole thing only lasted half an hour (he may have been booked for another interview immediately after mine).

Can you please give your interview debrief? Who was your interviewer? What was he/she like?

It was a second year student. He was dressed casually and overall demeanor was very informal. He gave me positive feedback throughout the interview on my answers which I appreciated because it showed he was engaged/interested versus other interviewers who just took notes and asked the next question. He asked me questions for about 20 minutes and then I asked questions for the last 10. Some of the questions he asked were:
- Walk me through your resume (I incorporated my ST goal here but he did not ask about my LT goal)
- Why Anderson
- What type of management style do you like
- What's a piece of feedback you were given recently
- What would your coworkers/direct reports say about you
- What's the most challenging thing about managing clients

Hope this helps. I imagine some of these questions were tailored to my experience since I do work with clients and have direct reports. I will say that Anderson was by far my favorite interview so far, makes me feel really good about the school and the types of students they admit. Good luck!
