Hi,
Thanks for your post.
So it sounds like you have the following strengths as evidenced here:
-strong academics
-demonstrated quant & analytical skills through your coursework and engineering experience
-international experiences
-rotation through various aspects of the automotive industry
And the following potential weaknesses or challenges:
-GMAT is low for your applicant group and the schools mentioned
-on the lower end of years of work experience; and along those lines- not sure if you've had a chance to demonstrate much leadership or make much impact yet, given the 2 years and the rotational nature of your position?? Quality of experience is very important, not just quantity, but schools will want to make sure you've got enough experience to bring to the table and contribute to class discussions, case studies, group projects, etc.
Plus many unknowns, such as extracurricular and community involvement, accomplishments, goals, strengths, and the components of your applications such as essays and recommendations.
So overall at this point it sounds like main question and focus is the GMAT, which makes sense. I would probably recommend giving it one more shot... there's not a lot to lose, but it could really help if you improved. I would suggest a course or tutor if you have not done so already... having someone watch how you approach the problems and tests can be very beneficial as they can suggest specific targeted improvements to your approach and help you strategize in terms of timing and methods for the GMAT.
Also not sure which MIT program you were looking at in which you'd apply in Summer? Or maybe you just meant work on the apps this summer for R1.... anyway good luck to you!
