Over the next few months, we will take submissions from users on the forum on generic essay topics (think the last five years of top business school applications), and post reviews for all to see and learn from. The awesome folks at
CriticalSquare have decided to take some time from their busy consulting calendar to review one essay every week and publish it on the forum.
How it will benefit potential MBA applicants- Users will get feedback on their essays by experts for free.
- Users will also be able to do follow up on the thread for advice and strategy and how to make the essays better.

Ok. What essays am I supposed to write? Most schools have not released essays yet!Yes, friend. We believe the timing is perfect to put that essay writer hat on and practice writing applications, and understand the goods and bads of essay writing in the most hands-on way possible. We have collected a list of essays that you can write which will help you figure out your application strategy get those pens and paper in action (do any of us still use those?)
- What are your career aspirations and why? How will you get there? (300 word limit).
- What are your three most substantial accomplishments and why do you view them as such? (600-word limit)
- Give us an example of a situation in which you displayed leadership. (500 word maximum)
- Describe a situation taken from your personal or professional life where you failed. Discuss what you learned. (400 words maximum)
- What is something people will find surprising about you?
- Describe a time when you were surprised by feedback that you received. What was the feedback and why were you surprised?
- Describe a time when you wish you could have retracted something you said or did. When did you realize your mistake and how did you handle the situation?
- Tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you learned from that experience.
- What matters most to you, and why?
As you can see from the list that the essays are selected to be as generic as possible so as to help you writing essays when you actually start with your applications in the coming weeks. If you desperately want us to review an essay that is not included in the list, feel free to drop me a PM, and I can try to squeeze it in. If you want to suggest another generic-ish essay for us to include, please let us know as well
