I gave my 3rd GMAT exam yesterday. In before 2 attempts my scores were 540(Q-46, V-20), and 630(Q-50, v-25) respectively. After preparing well for more than a year, I took my third attempt. Did pretty good in AWA, & IR in comparison to the last 2 attempts. Score a decent 50 in quant again. But got devastated 20 in verbal. My overall score this time was 580. This was the score in verbal that I got in my first attempt. In all Manhattan mocks, and 1 MBAprep mock, I got minimum 32, and maximum 38 in verbal, and other scores were within this range. Confident enough this time, I was, and am still shocked with my verbal score. I could not find a proper reason for doing poorly in verbal section, hence need expert's help/suggestions.
Here are the sources that I referred:
1) Princeton Review classes: After my first attempt, I thought that some good professional international coaching classes would help me in my preparations. So, I enrolled for PR classes. Neither the material, nor the faculty( verbal specifically) was helpful. After the course I found myself at the same position were I was earlier. But quant faculty taught some good tips, as a result of which I got good score in quant last 2 times. I gave all the PR mocks, but couldnt score/enhanced my score in verbal section. Than I decided to look for something better.
2)
E-gmat: Observing my performance at the same level, I decided to enroll for
e-gmat online classes. Though this time, I understood why I was getting low scores in verbal, I learnt the concepts for SC/CR/RC. But the biggest issue that I observed was that I was not able to apply those strategies to all the questions. I solved all the questions that the company provided, and got some confidence in my preparation. The biggest mistake that I did was that I did not give mocks. After completing my verbal preparations from
e-gmat, I gave just 1 MBAprep exam, and scored 680. I thought that I would get -+30 to this score. But I got 630.
3) This time, I joined a local coaching center. There I got some more concepts, and lots of materials to study. I stuck to the course, and prepared as per the plan given to me. Apart from the resources that the coaching center gave to me, I enrolled for
Magoosh online classes as well. I practiced verbal section twice, and the expected score that I saw was in the range of 33-40. This time, I make it a point to give mocks regularly. I gave almost every mock from PR, Kaplan, score800, MBAPrep, to Manhattan. Gave 1 MBAPrep, and all Manhattan mocks at the end days of my preparation.
MGMAT1:- 630(v-37)
MGMAT2:- 650(v-35)
MGMAT3:- 690(V-38)
MBAPrep1:- 700(V-34)
MGMAT4:-650(V-32)
MGMAT5:- 660(V-34)
MGMAT6:- 680(V-34)
I observed my verbal score for the last 7 mock tests. I found 32 was the minimum that I got. Keeping this thing in mind, I was sure that this time I would nail the exam. I gave last 2 mocks with AWA, and IR within time constraints.
I donot know what went wrong? What did I do? Still I am thinking that it is a bad dream. CANNOT ACCEPT THIS SCORE.
