Can anyone help me with sentence structure?
Original sentence
Playwright Samuel Becket, whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition, and theatrical techniques, were given recognition by critics, and also served to influence many writers, that included Edward Albee and Paul Vogel whose writing styles differed from his own. -----
Ans: This is defective sentence; ‘Were given’ recognition by critics belongs to the relative clause –The first part is in passive voice and the second part is in active voice. There is no justification for using ‘and’ in this case.
Quote:
Q: why is "Playwright Samuel Becket" not a subject? ---
Ans: Because he did not influence others, but his three things influenced others
Quote:
Q; is "whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition" dependent clause?
Ans: No they are just phrases. It is not a clause since there is no verb. –
Quote:
Q whose refers to Samuel Becket - and well crafted verb?
A ---well crafted is an adjective modifying works
Quote:
Q; usually ", and" marks independent clause then why ", and also served to influence many writers" is not an independent clause?
Ans ' and also ---- is indeed an independent clause while the previous part is a phrase without verb. This is the reason the text is unparallel.

In answer choice B
Playwright Samuel Becket, whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition, and theatrical techniques, recognized by critics, also influenced many writers, including Edward Albee and Paul Vogel, whose writing styles differed from his own.
Q: if we say ", whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition, and theatrical techniques," is a subject ---
then ", recognized by critics, also influenced many writers," - are "recognized" and "influenced" verbs? if yes then why are they separated by comma? and why are the verbs not joined with any conjunction?
Ans: No. Recognized by are just a modifier and not a verb; influenced is a verb. So they belong to different pars of speech.

Playwright Samuel Becket, whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition, and theatrical techniques, was recognized by critics, and also served influenced many writers, which included Edward Albee and Paul Vogel, whose writing styles differed
Q: would it be right if the sentence end with "from his own"
Playwright Samuel Becket, whose well crafted works, unsympathetic examination of the human condition, and theatrical techniques, was recognized by critics, and also served influenced many writers, which included Edward Albee and Paul Vogel, whose writing styles differed from his own --
Ans: No. this will not make an impact on the overall sentence. The problem is providing the parallelism marker ‘and’ in unwanted places. It is not clear who or what was recognized by critics. If his three aspects were recognized, then we can’t say ‘was recognized’, we should say ‘were recognized’. If Becket was recognized by critics, then there is no justification for saying ‘and also served’ without saying what he did first. In addition one side is passive and the other side is active. Unparallel.
I have tried as much as possible.
Could u pls explain the role of ", recognized" in the right answer? If it's a modifier, what exactly is it modifying? And is "influenced" a verb for the 3 nouns?
Also in b, isn't it a dangling sentence? As it says "ABC,whose x, y, z also influenced."
