Hi,
What is the deadline for January 2016 IMBA intake?

Thanks

mrslee, I checked their web portal but did not find any information regarding application deadlines. I remember hearing somewhere that IE accepts applications throughout the year on rolling basis and that there is no specific deadline for applying; nevertheless, I will try to get information on application deadlines from their India office. Shall update here when I get the info.

Thank you

As per my knowledge, IE doesn't have deadlines for applications. They have a Rolling admission pattern and you can submit your application whenever you feel like. Although, they say its best to send in the completed application almost a year before the Intake. I talked to the Admission office at IE and they said that once the application is submitted, the candidate would be called in for their in-house admission test i.e ieGAT. That is in case you haven't taken the GMAT already.

Dear Narenn,
Dear vas4869,

Thank you very much for your time and answer!
Yeah , I also got in touch with them and received the answer that it is still possible to apply to January intake. However, it is still the question that whether it is possible to apply even one month before the intake, as they have mentioned it is a rolling based :)

Dear mrslee,
Well technically yes. You can apply even one month before the intake. But that gives you very less time to schedule the interview. Moreover, the decision would take almost 2 months from the date of sending in your application. I presume the 'one month before intake'was a joke. But nonetheless, i would also like to bring to your notice that IE has this policy of admitting you in the intake that you intend to join and also to the one that comes after. So in case you get admission for the January'16intake, you simulateneously get admission for the Sep'16 intake as well. Hope this helps.
Best regards
Vivek

Hey All! Finally got the confirmation mail from IE and m so relieved. But I am still not sure if IE is the best choice. I mean I've heard about IE's Diversity, large alumni base and Entrepreneurship but m still skeptic about the placement scenario. From what i can understand after going through numerous web pages is that Job Prospects are really bad in Europe. And if this is the case then it hardly matters whether you are graduating from INSEAD, IE, IMD, LBS or HEC! I am still not sure whether i should join IE or not.

I equally had the same doubts about IE. I checked on LinkedIn for IE Alumni (in my location) and compared their pre and post MBA placements, I could not really see the IE Effect. When you check the same for other schools e.g. INSEAD, LBS and American schools, I saw huge gap between pre and post MBA placement. A few friends that i have got between 200% - 500% salary raise after MBA. (from say $30k - $130k). With IE alumni, I barely saw the IE nor the MBA effect, people left Big4 at Senior Associate level and returned to the same level in another firm (with the same salary scale).

Also, circa 95% of IE alumni from my jurisdiction returned back home immediately after their programme. This also defies the objective for most candidates from MEA and Asia who desire international work experience before returning home. In my own case, my only need for the IE MBA is international placement. Do Strategy consulting with a top consulting firm e.g. Bain, BCG and the likes (in a first world country) before returning home to settle with one of the Big 4s. As my friend would say, "The only way I would ever get a job with Goldman Sachs is to leave my home country and go fetch it". He is right because Goldman Sachs doesnt have a presence in our region, and even if they have investments here, there is a guy from this region at Wharton, Kelloggs, etc waiting to follow the investment train back home and grab the job.

As much as I appreciate the IE diversity, innovation and all, immediate objective of candidates should be important in school selection. I think the IE MBA would work for candidates like me, if I have other means to obtain work permit and residency within the EU.

Hi guys,

Good luck with your application. I was admitted for the January program, but declined the offer to study in another business school (yet to know if it is INSEAD or ESMT). I have a 700 GMAT, studied Communication Sciences in Brazil and worked with Advertising in Germany. I have heard that if you don't get a good GMAT, you can do their admissions test and your chances are likely going to increase. If you pass the pre-selection, be ready for a tough Skype Interview. I took part in four MBA Application process (also INSEAD, HEC Paris and ESMT) and no interview was as tough as the one with the admission's officer at IE. Here are some questions:

1) Describe what you have done professionally so far in up to two minutes.
2) Why MBA?
3) Why IE?
4) In a group, what kind of role do you play?
5) Describe what you have learnt from your international experience and how can you use that in your career.
6) Describe a situation in which you have failed and what you have learnt from it.
7) How would someone who doesn't like you describe you?
8) If your life were a movie, what would be its title and tagline?
9) Describe its plot (movie of your life) briefly.
10) How would it end?
11) Create an advertising campaign to IE. You have two minutes to brainstorm and one to tell the idea. (I am an advertiser)
12) How would you measure an elephant without using scale.
13) How M&Ms are made?
14) In ten years, which five countries will be economically more successful and why?
15) In your local airport, how many wheels there are?
16) If you were an ice cream, what flavor would you be?

Again, good luck. And if you need to know anything more specific, send me a private message. I will be happy to help.

Obvious personal reasons. ESMT is cheaper and its Germany, he doesnt have to leave his current location.

Hello all.

I was on Open day at IE and I should say that was really cool. I wasn't in another school to compare so I has subjective view but still maybe it will be interesting to somebody.

This school is really entepreneurial. On this day was networking part with alumni and current students. There was like 12-15 persons and 4 of them were entrepreneurs or have some plans about entrepreneurship. When I start to learn information about rhis school I was surprised a lot because for example their brochure about IMBA on 60% consists from some entrepreneurial information, they regularly make some venturing eventsm entrepreneurial competetion for students (not mock but with real investors) and they had startup lab for about 100 students.
And the most interesting for me was that founder of this school was a 23 years old entrepreneur who found this school only 25 years ago. This is really amazing.

There was master class with one case and this was really amazing. Sadly I didn't remember full name of professor. Only given name: Laura. And she was awesome: so much energy, so much fun and I really saw that she likes her work. This is really cool and inspiring.

Area 31 - amazing place. If you have idea of some project you can pitch it to the commission and if comission like it you will gain access to this startup area. This is difficult to describe but this place really has some vibes of entrepreneurship )

I didn't like that this school doesn't have a campus because I think that campus is cool for networking but still students are really communicative and our student-guide make a lot of conversations with other students during our tour by school.

Also I have some sort of mock-interview but actually it was more like some sort of simple conversation with friends:
Why do you want MBA
Why now
Why IE
Tell about yourself
etc.

No tricky questions at all. I don't know why. Maybe because it was just a mock interview, maybe because of my entrepreneurial biography and a lot of stories from my life by my initiative.

So IMHO if you look to entrepreneurial school then IE is one of the best school because it not just declare that it is entrepreneurial but it really puts a lot of efforts to give some hands-on experience to its students.

Hi all.
I was considering to apply to IE April 2016 intake and on the online application form I notice that I can only apply to January or September intakes. I had an impression that they also have an April intake. I am wondering why I don't see April 2016 as one of the options? Am I missing something here?
