Good Morning,
I am a R1/R2 applicant with UG in mechanical engineering from India and Master's in Mech Engg from Canada. I have been working in Canada for the past 3.5 years. I recently cleared my Canadian citizenship exam and will thus become a Canadian citizen by January 2016.
I have already applied to 4 schools in R1 (with 3 interview invites, 1 ding after interview and 1 no interview invite). I also plan to apply to 2 more schools for R2.
My questions are as follows:
1. How do schools determine what "bucket" would a particular candidate fall into based on the citizenship or based on the location/country of undergraduate studies?
2. Will it make any difference if I send an update to my schools about the change in citizenship for R1 schools now so late in the game?
3. If I apply next year to schools in USA for R1, would I be considered Canadian applicant based on my citizenship or still be considered with the Indian applicant pool as I did my UG from India (and this is something that I can not change now!).
Thank you for your time.
