Re: Calling all Tippie (Iowa) Applicants: (2016 Intake) Class of 2018!! [#permalink]
Hi All,

I registered for the One and Done event happening on Dec 2nd 2015 in India and did not get selected for the interview. Would it make sense to apply for the traditional selection process after getting rejected for this event?
Below is my profile:

Degree: BE Mechanical Engineering (2008)
Work Experience: 7 years - 1.5 years in design, 6 months in sales and 5 years in sourcing & procurement.
GRE: 303 (150 Verbal, 153 Quant)
TOEFL: 106
GMAT: Scheduled on Dec 5th 2015

Thanks!!

Hi, Correct me if I am wrong, but your ETS tool converted score shows a GMAT of 500 which is probably the reason why you were not invited for the One and Done. I would advice you to retake the GMAT and attempt a score around 700 and then apply via the traditional application. All the best !!

There are no virtual one and done events schedule for 15th Dec for Indian Applicants. The dates available for Indian Applicants are Dec 2nd and Jan 20th. Slots are still available. So apply as soon as possible.

Hello everyone. I'm doing the One and Done event on November 16th. Is there any advice anyone could give me? Is it just the interview process and a tour of the facilities or what else does the day entail? Thanks guys!

Hi
Is it allowed for an applicant to apply both through traditional method and through one & done method?

I don't think so. I mean the whole point of One and Done is to avoid the traditional method. But you can still send them an email and enquire about it.

I haven't yet applied to HBS and Chicago. I missed there first round deadlines and in any case, these are too ambitious schools for me. Nonetheless, planning to apply in round 2. I have interview invites from INSEAD and Wisconsin. Haven't heard from Michigan as yet so I am most likely denied there. I talked to an INSEAD alumni, who recommended that it may not be the right school for finance. What's your take on it?

I love INSEAD. Its the most global, most diverse MBA program and kind of a party program as well. INSEAD has global recognition and its a consulting powerhouse. You can't really go wrong with INSEAD if you wanna go into consulting. But INSEAD doesn't have a strong presence in finance. As an international student its hard to get a job in France post MBA if you don't know French well. INSEAD doesn't have a strong presence in finance in London either. The school itself admits it struggles to place students in finance but as I said earlier you can't go wrong with INSEAD in consulting. Of course that's my opinion but its based on conversations with a number of INSEAD alumni.

Just got done with my One and Done interview with Paul Pinckley. Very conversational interview. Tell me about yourself. Why MBA? Why now? Leadership qualities? Team skills? Difficult situation at work? Where do I want to work post mba? Short term and long term goals? Backup plan? Why Tippie? How do you plan to contribute to Tippie? And a question in return.

Extremely friendly guy and great experience. All the best to the people yet to be interviewed.
